Churros, Chocolate and CD’s!
A trip today into La Laguna saw a third day of CD action! Yes, I managed to locate yet another
CD shop, and a handful of bargains into the…er….bargain!
Today, I snagged a 17 track Dio compilation imaginatively titled ‘The Collection’, for just 5.50 euros, A great powerpop album by
Odds – ‘Nest’, for just ONE measly euro! AND Scottish rockers Gun‘s 1997 numerically entitled offering ’014316326326‘
for just 2 euros! The mighty Miki once again offered to buy them for me, but this time on the
strict condition that I pick up the tab in the next cafe….so off we went around the old Tenerife
capital and found a place offering Hot Chocolate and Churros, so we dug in! Check out the pictures, LOADS
of Churros!!! -and guess what? the bill was even cheaper than the CDs! Am I lucky or what? haha!
..And if you’re wondering, yes, they were delicious! Here’s a close-up…

Whoa, Kev! Man, it appears and sounds like you’re having a grand time on this trip! That DIO compilation sounds like a gem and is considered an import here in the U.S… fabulous you landed more Rockin’ finds! “I Could Have Been A Dreamer” is on that DIO CD and it’s at the top of my favorites list from RJD’s entire career.
Those Churros and chocolate looks so tasty… I’m gonna now get up and search for something in my pantry… LOL! Enjoy your journey, both of you! Whoa!

Hope you find something tasty Stone, LOL! Yeah the Dio collection is excellent..and it’s reminded me to dig out Rainbow Rising when I get home, what a metal legend he is…..

‘Rainbow Rising’ is timeless… as so many of Ronnie James Dio’s albums. The most common song that always gets stuck in my head lately is ‘Long Live Rock ‘n’ Roll’ and I’m not complaining!
Don’t know how true all this is, yet according to Wikipedia, the title for that GUN album “is now a telephone number for a driving school in Scotland. At the time GUN used it, the number could be called to hear band members give out news on the band and you could leave messages for them.” LOL! If true, pretty fun stuff.

You’re right about the phone number Stone – 0141 is the UK dialling code for Glasgow, and the band did indeed do as you said! Did you know the last track Ronnie recorded was called ‘Metal will never Die’? What an epitaph!

…as a post-script to this CD friendly trip, I wandered back in to the Centro-commercial CD shop this morning and picked up Priest’s Metal Works 73-93 Remastered Double CD for 11 euros! We start the journey home to the Spanish mainland tomorrow – what a cool trip!
