Let’s get laid

The Fastest drill in the West.....

The Fastest drill in the West.....

I wonder, does one still “lay” a carpet when it is being affixed to a wall, as opposed to the floor? Probably not. I would even go so far as to suggest a word – “attack”.  It certainly felt like a battle when I, with the help of the redoubtable – but undeniably smaller than me – Miki attempted to wrestle my powder blue beauty into place.

But in place it eventually went, crowned with a nice new wall light, and one side of the studio is beginning to look something like. Three more walls to go. Has anybody got any Valium?

  1. Hello Kevin !
    Please, ask Miki to translate because I’m sure it will be too … complicated…
    Tu sais que, armé, on doit toujours avoir une cagoule sur le visage, pour ne pas être reconnu ? 😉
    Je trouve que tu tiens très bien la perceuse moi !
    Allez bon courage, ça vient bon !

  2. A most ominous photo! I love it! Blowing the tip of the smoking drill with a faint maniacal gleam in the eye, no doubt caused by the war waged with the blue beast. Even the lighting adds to the mood.

    I’m so glad you’ve turned the creation of your studio into a noir-ish serial post – can’t wait for the next episode…

  3. Mission accomplie, Apple Queen!
    Je crois que la cagoule, c’est moi qui vais lui tricoter, comme çà elle sera pleine de trous et je pourrais encore le voir, ce grand perceur de mon cœur! 🙂

    I love this photo too, Bob, the atmosphere is deep… and Kevin’s title is great too!
    I wonder too what will be the next episode…

  4. Bob: I was quite surprised when I saw the photo, it is indeed ominous! But then again, perhaps I shouldn’t be, it’s simply conveying the endless struggle between man and seemingly inanimate objects, where the laws of the Universe constantly change and set themselves against your will. Some call this the beauty of the Cosmos. I call it the hell that is D.I.Y.
    Pomme: merci, je comprends maintenant votre mots, avec l’aide de Miki! (God my French must be awful)

    Miki: The next episode will be – Kevin throws himself from the top of the building wrapped in a roll of fetching blue carpet! 🙂

  5. Ho Miki, c’est charmant ce que tu nous dis là !
    Kevin, I understand, and it’s the more important, isn’t it ?
    You speak french better than I speak english …
    I like your french !

  6. THis picture belongs on an album cover I think. You are developing quite a talent with the camera miki, or maybe it’s just your photogenic (ham of a) subject.

  7. @Susan
    Well, the camera was my very first “weapon”, long before I started painting. I always loved photographing, and still do. I think there is a very important common point between Photo and Painting: the composition. And I think I always compose my photos like I compose my paintings… normally with a lot of contrasts!

    @Apple Queen
    We both love your English, it sounds very charming through the screen…

    @Everybody!
    And now Kevin has a big blue wavy sea on his walls, if you understand what I mean…

  8. Pomme: thanks for the compliment!
    Susan: I hold my hands up, I am indeed a ham. Open the fridge door, and when the light comes on, i’ll do 15 minutes! But Miki, somehow manages to make me look good even when I’ve been working. Now that’s genius!
    Miki, you are a cheeky little bugger! its not ALL that wavy, I tried to put it flat against the wall…it’s not my fault its got a life of its own! 😉

  9. OOOOOOOO! Doesn’t this photo inspire dread in the hearts of all mothers… and… carpet beetles??? Hide you children away until we can get a posse together to round up this here nasty villain!!! LOL! GIGGLE!
    Actually, truth be told, I quite LIKE this photo. I agree,it could be used as an album cover, crop out the smoking gun.. er drill… and purt in a real gun, or get a close-up of that gorgeous face, especially those sexy, smoldering eyes!!!!! You could do all kinds of wonderful ‘mug shots’ with this.

    p.S. Thanks for stopping by my Blog earlier! 😉

  11. Great to see things coming together. I trust that your having great fun and look forward to seeing the finished studio. It seems that you are really having the time of your life with this project. It appears to me there is some deeper connection going on that’s personal, but great for you. peace/Michael

  12. Cheers Michael. You have (pardon the DIY pun) hit the nail on the head! I AM having the time of my life with it. Despite the various trials and tribulations that go hand in hand with not being a natural handyman, the deeper connection is the joy of creating something that will then itself be the centre of creativity for me. It’s the deep satisfaction one gets from being there right at the beginning. I know, should I have engaged someone else to do the work, the feeling upon completion would be far less sweet. Half the ceiling acoustics done today!
