Nearly there!

Completion, like Christmas, looms large on the horizon. (So does my solo show on New Year’s Eve, but I’m trying not to think about that!) Today I fired up the power amp and tested the speakers, which are now proudly hanging, dungeon-like, from chains attached to the ceiling. Asyou can see from the photo, two of my guitars now hang proudly from the walls. Two more to put up on the other side of the studio. The entire worktop area is installed with end sections, and the pull-out drawer for the keyboard workstation also. My biggest enemy now is impatience – wanting to just have the thing finished so I can start creating in it.  But, all being well, as we enter the rarified atmosphere that is January 2009, I’ll be engaged in a compositional frenzy in my newly finished studio!

We’re all excited along with you to complete the studio and to see (and hear) what comes of it. I love the blue tones, sort of like a cave. Wonder what influence it’ll have on the music?

  2. Bob: I deliberately went for the blue and black tones, because my previous two studios have had those colour schemes. call me a sentimentalist, but I wanted to “connect” to those early days of creativity with the old band. I feel a direct connection now, whenever I go in there. Plus, it should feel “cool” in the Summer! (Theoretically!) I, too am excited to hear what comes out of it! One of the first pieces hopefully will be the song inspired by one of Susan’s entries in her blog – where a phrase she used prompted me to write an entire lyric. Her phrase will be the chorus, and I’m sure she’s as anxious to hear it as I am to get to work on it!
