Georgia on my album

Shelley gets down to it

The Blue Odyssey project continues to excite, as contributions come in from around the world.  My friend Shelley, based in Atlanta, Georgia, has just completed the recording of her violin part for my song “Never get to Nashville” , which will become the opening track on the CD. Shelley and I have worked together before , on the still unfinished (my fault!)  Altered Book project. You can hear the three completed tracks from that project featuring her lyrics by clicking on the players below:

Playing the Field

On Never get to Nashville, she also stars as the Delta airlines stewardess at the end of the track!

These collaborations are such fun, because I get to work with my friends, regardless of where they are in the world, and also because of the surprise factor inherent in waiting for, and receiving their contributions. In each case, I have given the musicians free rein to interpret their solos, etc, because I want a flavour of them , rather than performing something for me parrot fashion. I believe asking somebody to exactly reproduce your line flies in the face of what ‘collaboration’ truly means.  I await Shelley’s part with growing anticipation!

Job done!
